Thank you. I have been a little down after reading a number of reviews that profess to "get" the film. An example of this - http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/filmblog/2009/dec/14/where-the-wild-things-are

"so I’ll leave that to the slew of critics who will watch all movies on their superficial level"

Your piece expands on the film, most other people have reduced it.

Again, thank you

Beautiful wonderful and tragic. I really like your use of words and use of story throughout the emotional journey in the poem.

Wow. Very well done. This totally puts my "ode to mac & cheese" poem to shame. I love how you used the nature of the yard and surrounding area to come out in your writing.

When I look back at my childhood I see a lot of imagination, but I also, if I force myself to look hard enough remember my longing to fit in that was really quite painful and depressing. A sort of, "I must live here? I can't live there?" There being my imaginary realm where only my closest friend was present.

Asphyxiating: a word I will now force into an everyday conversation. What a wonderful adjective. :)

I was talking to a friend the other day when she mentioned times as a child she would be crying and couldn't breathe. She wasn't being abused or even physically hurt, it's just something kids do.

It made me think of how violent and asphyxiating childhood really is. I can vividly remember every time I couldn't breathe.

I actually wrote this in May and I debated posting it for awhile. But I liked it so much that conceit got the better of me.
